Elvis Costello: The Beat
When I play the desert island disc game, one of the albums that always comes to mind is This Year’s Model by Elvis Costello. Man, this is a perfect album with nary a weak track to be found. I love Costello in all of his early incarnations but This Year’s Model probably represents his highest moment. The music here is frantic. Steve Nieve’s organ is ever present and carnival-like. Costello sings with an angry vengeance. The whole album just works.
And while I'm at it, I officially nominate This Years Model as one of the greatest road trip albums in history!
