This band was good, but no better than many others of the day (The Chocolate Watch Band immediately springs to mind). Still, they rock, and how many bands can you say that about today?
Just as many; probably more, given that professional-level recording is much cheaper and available to more people now.
I would bet that the percentage of good music to bad is still about the same, but there's a lot more out there now.
Re: Chocolate Watchband, I know "Are You Gonna Be There (At the Love-In)" from the original Nuggets collection, now sadly departed from my collection for many years. Good track.
Six Songs uses the Yahoo media player, which is supposed to allow readers to play the song directly. Is it not coming through? There should be a little "play" icon next to the mp3 link. Is it working?
I admit I don't know much about The Pretty Things other than having heard of them. So yeah, that's pretty unappreciated.
ReplyDeleteThe song is a pretty ordinary example of that style of Brit Invasion pop, so I'm not so sure that they're not appreciated just the right amount.

I've heard of them: I may as well hear> them.
ReplyDeleteI'll give the song a whirl in a bit and let you know what I think.
Guys, how about installing one of them widgets on your site so you can listen to a song directly? That would make it easier to comment directly.
