Big Star: I'm In Love With A Girl
[purchase]
On Wednesday, Loudersoft suggested Big Star as a place to look for folks who want more stuff like the Emitt Rhodes track. We couldn't agree more. So here is a taste of Big Star. If you don't have the Big Star two-fer, which has their first two records on one CD, you need to get it in your collection ASAP. It's an incredibly influential and fun album.

p.s. Thanks for the link, I'll throw you one back as soon as I get a chance.
i dont think there is a proto-typical indie rock band out there today that isnt copping big star in some kinda way.
ok you're in love with a girl but hey ? who is she ? there, man, you open the big door : first name's songs ! oh yes ! like love (or was it rock'n'roll) you're here to stay !
I finally picked up this album after years of putting it off. I've been listening to #1 Record nearly nonstop since I bought it a few months ago.
I like this song a lot, but my favorite is probably "Back Of A Car". Great choice nonetheless.
Wow, Thanks for all the great comments. Looks like the collaborative blog idea just might work.
Great pair of albums... a stellar deal on a single disc, too.
Thanks for the Pogues yesterday, by the way.
I'll definitely be stopping back.
i really want some big star on vinyl. sigh.
