As noted earlier this week, the legendary Highway 61, also known as the blues highway, runs from New Orleans to Duluth in Minnesota. It´s said that if you´re in possession of forty red, white and blue shoestrings and a thousand telephones that don’t ring, this route is where you can get rid of ´em. Easily.
According to the great bluesman Fred McDowell though, Highway 61 runs from New York City down the Gulf of Mexico. Don´t matter none, as his 61 Highway is a pretty intense blues to say the least. "I started school one Monday morning, Lord, I throwed my books away... I wrote a note to my teacher, Lord, I´m gonna try 61 today..."
